Project: Moxy Hotel, Piccadilly Circus, London
Product: BN1SLR/55
The Project
Opened in February 2026, Moxy London Piccadilly Circus is the largest Moxy hotel in the world outside of New York, and one of the most striking new hospitality openings in the capital. Developed by Criterion Capital, the 532-room flagship occupies the upper floors of the iconic Criterion Building, a landmark property in the heart of London’s West End. Rather than demolishing the site, the project reflects a commitment to adaptive reuse, transforming former office space into a world-class hotel while preserving the building’s heritage and character.

Taking design inspiration from the Horses of Helios fountain on Piccadilly Circus, the hotel’s Bar Moxy carries a striking “Helios” aesthetic, while the guestrooms celebrate the Criterion Building’s history as home to its theatre. Situated steps from Piccadilly Circus underground station and surrounded by some of London’s most celebrated destinations, including Regent Street, Soho and Shaftesbury Avenue, this is a hotel that demands a first impression to match its surroundings.
The Solution
CAT BN1SLR/55 solid brass stair nosings were chosen for the lobby area, positioned at the top of two escalators where they become one of the very first things guests see as they arrive up into the space. The bold sweeping curves of the lobby presented a considerable challenge, requiring our team to carry out detailed onsite templating to ensure each nosing followed the curves with precision. The result is a seamless, polished finish that complements the hotel’s theatrical and contemporary interior.

The Profile
The BN1SLR/55 is a solid brass stair nosing with a serrated slip-resistant tread and a ramped back edge, designed to be fitted directly to the step or on top of resilient floor coverings. Available in CAT’s four signature brass finishes, the BN1SLR/55 can be supplied undrilled or drilled for countersunk fixings.
