Safety, Slip Resistance & Stair Visibility
Whilst style is high on the priority list, we know that safety comes first for our customers, which is why we have a wide range of infills for our Brass Stair Nosings to ensure that we have options for each environment. We have a slip resistance value for each of our products, but you can also find our LRVs here, showing you which potential infill is best before you are too far into the process.
BTI49.5, Castellated PVC, Smooth Textured PVC, Olympic Grip inserts and Solid Brass Nosings all offer different levels of customisation and use. With each insert baring its colours, and Slip Resistance Values, you can choose any combination to suit your style and needs.
We understand how important safety is to our customers, which is why we have been perfecting our Brass Stair Nosings over the years and ensuring they reduce the risk of accidents.
If you are looking for a Brass Stair Nosing that offers contrast on each step then our Castellated PVC infills (SRV – Dry 85 | Wet 76) are a great option, or if you are looking for an infill that conceals fixings while providing a solid appearance, our BTI49.5 (SRV – Dry 82 | Wet 54) is the ideal profile. Or we have a Solid Brass Stair Nosing with a serrated slip-resistant tread, and If you are looking for a durable, very-high-slip-resistance solution, our Olympic Grip Infills (SRV – Dry 102 | Wet 71) are the perfect choice.
Where Are Brass Stair Nosings Used?
Brass Stair Nosings are predominantly used in upscale buildings such as stately homes, theatres, and hotels. The more they are exposed to atmospheric conditions, the quicker the oxidation process, which gives the allure of aged profiles, in keeping with the history of many of the UK’s greatest buildings.
Alongside heritage and traditional interiors, brass stair nosings are also widely specified for modern commercial developments where durability, premium finishes and long-term stair protection are required. They are commonly used across hospitality venues, theatres, retail environments and refurbishment projects where both performance and appearance are important considerations.
Brass Stair Nosing Profiles & Design Options
CAT Brass Stair Nosings come in a variety of constructions to fit all different kinds of staircases; including Square, Raked Back, Bull Nose andChevron Front. Each one of these nosings is designed to work with a multitude of floor covering including carpet, LVT, wood, stone, and ceramic, whether they are installed on their own on in conjunction with our solid brass stair nosing accessories, such as BNFE30 ramp detail or our BNE nap detail.

Maintaining Brass Stair Nosings
Brass Stair Nosings do not require a time-consuming amount of maintenance, as long as the correct steps are followed, depending on the finish and infill you are using, for example immediately after installation and the removal of protective tape, wipe the profile with a dry, soft cloth to remove any handling marks and fingerprints. Sweeping the profile clean daily with ensure that the oxidisation process stays at a steady and consistent pace throughout the profile.
