Overview
The Mere Golf Resort and Spa is one of England’s most celebrated luxury destinations, set within 150 acres of stunning Cheshire countryside. Home to an 18-hole championship golf course and a world-class spa, The Mere has long been regarded as a premier retreat for leisure and corporate guests alike.
This latest chapter for The Mere has seen the resort expand and elevate on a significant scale. The project brings the total bedroom count to 116, made up of 87 refurbished rooms and 29 newly built across the main building and a new extension, with 12 of those being suites, all delivered to a 5-star finish. The scope reaches well beyond the bedrooms, taking in a completely new entrance and reception, additional kitchen facilities, and a two-storey extension to the conference centre. A new Golf Pavilion has also been created to serve the championship course, joined by a new Peruvian restaurant, making this one of the most far-reaching developments the resort has seen.
CAT worked closely with Active Flooring to supply a comprehensive range of brass and aluminium flooring profiles and stair nosings throughout the project, covering the main building, guest corridors, staircases, and the new-build areas. With two distinct finishes required across the development, antique brass was specified throughout the heritage areas of the main building, while satin aluminium was used in the new-build extension, ensuring each zone had a finish in keeping with its surroundings.
The standout installation across the project is the curved BN5 solid brass stair nosings, formed to follow the sweeping curves of the main staircase. Each nosing was templated on site to ensure a precise fit, resulting in a seamless finish that makes an immediate and lasting impression.
Across the wider project, AN15 satin aluminium stair nosings and AN15R were installed throughout the guest corridors and new-build staircases, alongside an extensive range of brass flooring profiles including Feline 2, BNF, and FPB flat plates to create clean, durable transitions between floor coverings throughout the resort.
The scale and variety of this project is a testament to the breadth of CAT’s product range, and the close collaboration with Active Flooring ensured every profile was delivered, fabricated, and installed to the highest standard befitting a 5-star resort.
